Wedding Portrait Session at The Marion Hatcher Center Augusta GA

When Derek reached out to me to inquire about my photography services he informed me that he had an unusual request. He said he had already been married and that his wife’s only regret was that they were not able to get memorable wedding portraits. Derek & Marie were married in October, 2019 at the historic Marion Hatcher Center in Augusta, GA. It unfortunately rained and they couldn’t take any pictures outside. They hired a hybrid videographer who also took photos. Though he was able to create a memorable video for them, his photos that day inside the Marion Hatcher Center disappointed them.

Derek wanted to surprise Marie by hiring a local photographer who could essentially re-do their wedding day portraits. Derek searched and found me; he loved my portfolio and contacted me to see if I would be interested in re-doing their wedding day portraits. When I heard their story I couldn’t say no! Like all weddings I accept, I send a questionnaire and vision board to my clients to better get a sense of their personality and style. This way, I can better understand how I can mesh my talent with their vision. Even though this wasn’t actually going to be a wedding I still needed to go through the same process to deliver what would be the only chance for these two lovely people to get the photos they would enjoy for years to come.

Derek & Marie were able to get in contact with The Marion Hatcher Center and request 2 hrs of their time to lend us the premises to be able to capture their portraits. Marie got her wedding dress out the preservation bag and to a dry cleaner to have it ready. Derek lost a few pounds of love weight to fit into his suit hehehe. Three months later we had our session.

As a wedding photographer, we are constrained to a tight schedule. Fitting the sought after “portrait session” part of the day is usually trivial to say the least. If you are extremely lucky you get an hour, sometimes you’re lucky enough to get 30 minutes with the bride & groom. Other times, this portrait session gets completely discarded due to circumstances beyond yours truly, the wedding photographer. I actually think Derek & Marie benefited from having this portrait session well after their wedding day.

Anyway, without further ado here are some of my favorite images from Derek & Marie’s wedding portrait session at The Marion Hatcher Center in Augusta, GA

Augusta Senior Photo Sessions 2020!

Congratulations to the senior class of 2020! Though the start of 2020 has been rough, I appreciate that I had an opportunity to shed a little light into the lives of these graduating seniors with my photography. I am glad I could capture their achievement and help reveal their enthusiasm for the bright futures ahead of them. This year I had the privilege to commemorate this moment for three seniors from Evans High School, Grovetown High School & Ridgeview High School in Columbia, SC.

I met Gabriel and his mother Atiya at the Savannah Rapids Pavilion for his senior photography session. Atiya had a keen eye for detail and immediately noticed a beautiful rock wall near the headgates that lent itself to some of the best photo backdrops I’ve ever taken there. Gabriel graduated from Evans High School and is on his way to the Marine Corps, following in the footsteps of his mother. Now, not only will Atiya see Gabriel as her son, but also as her brother as he begins to serve with honor, courage, and commitment.

A few years ago, my neighbor Destiny hired me to capture Christmas photos of her children. Since then, she’s tried to set a few dates to capture family photos, but something always comes up. A few weeks into May, she reached out to me to capture graduation photos for her son DJ. For once, everything went as planned, and we did a full senior graduation photo session at the Augusta Riverwalk. I love this location because it has so much to offer including creative landscaping, an amphitheater, and the Savannah River. DJ graduated from Riverside High School and I wish him all the success in the world.

We took Yasmine’s senior graduation photos at the lovely and picturesque Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site. I always recommend this location to clients willing to drive a bit outside of the Augusta area. The extraordinary trees and classical southern architecture make the drive to South Carolina well worth the time. In addition to the standard two-outfit cap and gown and casual senior session, we also captured Yasmine in her prom dress. Unfortunately, the senior students of 2020 missed out on their prom due to COVID-19 restrictions. I hope Yasmine can look back on these photos and always see how stunning she looked in her prom dress. Yasmine graduated from Grovetown High School and is heading to UGA (Go Dawgs!). Seeing the abundance of honor cords she earned, I know she will apply the same strong work ethic she had through high school to everything she does. The sky is the limit for Yasmine.

As much as these seniors enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate their achievements in photos, I may have appreciated the experience more than they did. Being around them gave me a sense of hope amidst these dark times in which we are currently living. Good luck and may God bless the Class of 2020!

Wedding at The Enterprise Mill Augusta GA

Nick & Calen Matos Wedding Day

This was my first Wedding at Enterprise Mill Events & Catering. I arrived early to capture Nick seeing Calen for the first time prior to the ceremony at Enterprise Mill. I absolutely LOVE first looks before a wedding ceremony. It gives me a chance to capture an authentic moment that can be sometimes difficult during a typical ceremony.

After the first look I captured family portraits and photos with Calen’s bridesmaids. I also captured some shots of Nick, his best man and son Aiden channeling his inner Man of Steel!

I was ready for the ceremony at this point of the festivities. Enterprise Mill Events & Catering has a gorgeous outdoor brick gazebo structure that let’s in ample amounts of beautiful natural light, but I had my Profoto B10 flash heads ready in case things got a bit too dark. Luckily, I didn’t need them here. Nick & Calen had written out their own vows, It was very moving. Especially when Calen addressed their son Aiden, completely heart warming moment.

Because it was a chilly February day in Augusta, GA and Calen had braved most of it in her stunning wedding dress we opted to do couples portraits indoors. No problem there, Enterprise Mill has a lot of character inside from artistic brick walls to a beautiful sliding wooden door. I was able to get some great shots from those textures and my Magmod modifiers. I am always practicing different “light recipes” because you never know the limitations you may run up against during a wedding day.

Once our portrait session was over it was time for me to switch gears and get ready for the reception. This is usually my favorite part of a wedding. Everybody by now has eaten appetizers and have had a few drinks. I usually setup my lights in strategic places to capture candid moments from the entrance, first dance, speeches and guests dancing the night away. Enterprise Mill is definitely dark inside so relying on your flash photography is critical here. My favorite picture has to be the father & daughter dance with Calen and her dad. I caught a moment I always strive to capture if ever given the opportunity and it finally happened. It’s why I do what I do…….I love wedding photography!

Nick & Calen started their first dance with “Iris” by The Goo Goo Dolls and ended the night with a last dance “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Kina Grannis. My wife Julianna was my assistant during the wedding and we had a blast helping Nick & Calen with their special day. I wish nothing but lasting love & happiness for them and can’t thank them enough for having us be a small part of it all.

Engagement Session At Hammonds Ferry

Hello all,

I finally got to have a photoshoot at the beautiful location of Hammonds Ferry in North Augusta with Chris and Jen.  Whenever a client books a session with me I truly want to give them a unique experience.  I always suggest a new location because not only does it provide my client with a different scenic backdrop, but it always sparks my creativity and forces me to think of new ideas.  I was very pleased that Chris and Jen wanted to capture their photos at Hammonds Ferry and I believe my creativity came out in full swing with their images.  Chris & Jen were a pleasure to be around.  They were willing to try anything I asked of them, no matter how silly it may have seemed.  They completely trusted my judgement and I believe it shows in the images.  If you're ever in Hammonds Ferry for a photoshoot go grab some dinner at Manuel's Bread Cafe or Larder, thank me later!  Without further Ado.....here are some of the images we captured that day!

Wedding at Sacred Heart Cultural Center Augusta, GA

Daniel & Celine's Wedding

Daniel and Celine were married on February 9th at the historic Sacred Heart Cultural Center in Downtown Augusta, GA. The church was built in 1897 and held its first mass in 1900! Unfortunately, due to a number of factors the last mass was held in Sacred Heart on July 3, 1971. The building was reopened in 1987. The structure now serves as a unique venue for social and cultural events such as art exhibitions, theatrical events, an annual Garden Festival, choral concerts and is rented continuously throughout the year for celebrations, and civic functions.

This was my first time photographing any event at the Cultural Center. It was absolutely beautiful and a great location to have a ceremony and reception for your wedding. Daniel and Celine are currently living in Taiwan and this would be their second wedding for Daniel’s family and friends here in Augusta, GA. They were both so easy going throughout the day, it really helped bring out more of my artistic side. Usually a wedding has multiple locations with time restraints, this brings common pressures as a wedding photographer which I have come to expect and work well under. However, there was little to no pressure during the Eyrich Wedding and I couldn’t have been more appreciative of it.

One take away during the wedding was when I began getting family ready for portrait shots, I was told there were 11 siblings in Daniel’s family! Posing them all in one big shot was a challenge but I think I knocked it out of the park. Also, his family can really dance! They were doing many coordinated dances as you will see in the photos below. I really enjoyed being a spectator to this.

I want to wish Daniel and Celine many years of love and companionship. No matter where they are their love will shine bright to those who know them and are touched by them.

Here are some photos of their day:

Engagement at Pendleton King Park!

Hello all!

Just a few weeks ago I got meet the sweetest couple and captured their engagement session.  Rob & Chelsee are getting married in September and I am honored to be capturing it.  Here are a few fun facts about Rob & Chelsee.  Chelsee's favorite show right now is Heartland and Quantico; Rob really loves Hawaii Five-O.  Their favorite date night is a night at home cooking comfort food and making a dessert together.  Followed by relaxing on the sofa with their dog watching Disney classics.  That sounds like my kind of night!  When asked if a movie or show of their love story were made; what channel or platform would it air on?  She said it would be a Netflix Original Series showcasing them being their silly selves in their lab with their soon to be mini-horse St. Bernard.  Let me add that to my watchlist! ;-)

Here are some of the photos from their engagement session!

Engagement Session at Brick Pond Park!

Summertime in Georgia is hot! Before any engagement shoot I like to go over the many options with my clients including locations, themes, and what they want out of an engagement session. I seek to carry out their vision with my distinctive IMP style as I help tell the story of this new chapter in their lives with photographs.

Ashley & Eugene met in high school and were the best of friends before they fell in love with each other. For location, they choose the nature-filled Brick Pond Park in North Augsta, SC. I photograph many sessions here and I believe my clients fall in love with the sweeping natural vistas that Brick Pond Park offers.

Because it’s June and temperatures hit the high 90s before noon, I recommended we start our session in the morning. I suggested starting at 8am or 9am, but that proved to not be early enough. By 9:30am on the day of our shoot, temperatures had already reached the mid 80s and we felt the unrelenting heat and humidity as it continued to build. This unfortunately cut our engagement shoot short. Even with the short amount of time, I believe I captured the love and passion Ashley and Eugene have for each other. Some couples have trouble warming up to having a camera nearby while staring deep into each others' eyes, but not Ashley & Eugene! From the moment I asked them to pose, they shared a view into their warmth and love for each other as if the camera wasn’t there at all. I may have even had to pry them apart to keep our shoot going --! I love giving my clients the best experience possible and hope they will enjoy their images from a hot but beautiful morning. I look forward to capturing their wedding in November!

Eugene & Ashley's Wedding Day

Eugene & Ashley were married on November 2nd at The Boat House Community Center in Augusta, GA. The venue features open windows surrounding the entire event floor — no shortage of natural light to illuminate the celebration! Eugene & Ashley were so fun to be around the entire day; they exuded confident assurance as they prepared to say their vows in front of family and friends who love them dearly. Ashley had the coolest wedding shoes I’ve ever had the pleasure of capturing….a pair of custom Chuck Taylors to commemorate their wedding day! I wish Eugene & Ashley a lifetime of happiness & love.

Here is their wedding story through my lens…..

Jason & Brittany's Engagement Session At Redcliffe Plantation

I’ve always wanted to have a photo session at Redcliffe Plantation near Beech Island, SC. I always suggest it as a location to any of my clients looking to do an engagement, maternity or family session. Usually, clients decline the opportunity because it is a bit of a drive away from Augusta. However, looking at other photographers in the CSRA sharing their images at the location really interested me in having a shoot there to see what I can do with the scenery. When I first spoke to Brittany when planning her engagement session with her fiancé Jason I had mentioned Redcliffe Plantation and everything it had to offer for a shoot. She didn’t hesitate and almost immediately agreed to have her engagement shoot there and I am very happy she and Jason went with it! Redcliffe Plantation is a BEAUTIFUL location that even in early December is still picturesque as much of the foliage is green and the historic magnolias still have their leaves. I really loved working with Jason & Brittany, they trusted my guidance from the very beginning and were always up for taking creative shots whether they were going to make the final cut or not. We got some very memorable photos that will be the first of many as they plan for their big wedding in Savannah, GA.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the session…….

Laura & Scott's Maternity Session

I met with Laura & Scott at the lovely Savannah Rapids Pavilion Park in Augusta, GA. Laura, who is 9 months pregnant really wanted to capture maternity photos before giving birth to their baby girl. Time was not of the essence so we had the session as quickly as we could on a gorgeous Saturday morning. During our session I learned that Laura is quite the athlete, she’s accomplished several triathlons; she’s even going to attempt another one in September as her personal goal after she gives birth. How awesome is that?

I wish Laura & Scott many blessings to come with the arrival of their newest addition to their family. Here are some of my favorite pictures from our session.

Christmas Family Photography Session!

Seasons greetings everyone!

When Destiny reached out to me inquiring if I would be interested capturing her family photos for her Christmas card/Family portraits I was thrilled at the opportunity.  Because I am still a newb in the C.S.R.A and have a lot to learn in terms of scouting interesting locations for photoshoots; I am always looking to try new places.  I had heard of Brickpond Park by many photographers in the area who go there for sessions with their clients.  I personally have never been there.  So the day before my session with Destiny and her kids I decided to scout the area.  When I got there I was a bit thrown off.  While it was a very picturesque, it did have have a warning marker throughout.  A marker that really doesn't go unnoticed.  Beware of Alligators!!!  Do not attempt to feed or harass if encountering one.  *Gulp*

As I walked through the area getting ideas for the session, I kept my eyes on the water......just in case.  Toward the end of my scouting throughout the park I decided to head on back.  As I walked back across one of the many ponds I peered out into the distance and notice something still and staring at me.  It was an alligator alright!  About 7-8 feet.  I noticed a stray dog in the area just moving along the edge of the pond.  The alligator didn't seem to be interested.  It just stayed there minding its own business.  After all that, I still felt that it was safe enough to have the photos taken there.  Worse case scenario I could just beat it with my gigantic Canon 70-200 lens ;-p

20171128-3Q9A7977.jpg

On the day of the photo session, Destiny bought her very photogenic kids Pierre, Carter and the newest edition to the family baby Salih!  Pierre was very helpful throughout the session helping me and his mother out with anything we needed to capture the best photos we possibly could.  Carter is just full of personality and kept us laughing throughout.  Baby Salih did what most newborns do.....sleep hahaha.  However, she did wake up from time to time just to give me a look. All in all, I believe I captured some of my best photos that day and it will definitely have a home in the IMP portfolio body of work.  I would like to thank Destiny for supporting and trusting me with photographing her family.  I look forward to photographing her family again in the near future!

Beau & Jane's Wedding Day

Beau & Jane met at The Partridge Inn in Augusta, GA on July 14th, 2018. Beau is from Atlanta, GA and Jane is from Charleston, SC. It was the perfect in-between location for the both of them and, as fate would have it, it all worked out for the best! Beau & Jane have such a wonderful love story and it’s one that really impressed me. Being able to witness heartfelt, genuine love and hope between the couples I have photographed reinforces why I got into wedding photography. For me, Beau & Jane’s story is about the pursuit of love. In my life, I’ve seen many people close the door on the opportunity of finding long-lasting love and companionship because of past hurts or giving up. Beau & Jane each persisted in their pursuit of love. It was this that led them to each other on July 14, 2018.

Exactly one year later, on July 14th, 2019, Beau & Jane got married at the very location they found each other: the historic Partridge Inn in Augusta. They were surrounded by love and support from family, friends and colleagues. One family portrait happens to be my favorite: Beau & Jane with their grandchildren. The legacy of love and hope in this photo encapsulates the day. As stated in one of my favorite films: “Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.” I wish Beau & Jane continued love, companionship, and the hope of bright new days for the rest of their lives.

Rob & Chelsee Arthur Wedding Story

Rob & Chelsee married on September 24th at the Court Street Livery in Washington, GA.  The town had a wonderful historic and rustic feel to it.  The day was absolutely beautiful too.  Here in GA, the weather can be extremely hot and humid.  But on their wedding day the weather couldn't be more perfect!  Throughout my time getting to know Rob and Chelsee, I have come to see a beautiful and caring couple who supported and trusted me with capturing the start of their marriage.  I hope to continue to be in the lives of Rob and Chelsee in the future and wish them years of happiness.  I want to close with Chelsee's wish for the start of their new lives together: "When you need a helping hand, you will always have mine.  Because from this day forward, you do not walk alone.  My arms will be your shelter, my heart will be your home and you will have my love forever and always."

Deepika & Prashanth with Baahu

I met with Deepika and Prashanth and their lovable American Bulldog Baahu on June 24th.  After going over a few locations for their family photo shoot they choose to go with Brick Pond Park for it's rustic wildlife visuals and unique bridge.  Deepika shared with me that they would be moving to a new location where American Bulldogs are outlawed.  They will have family watch over Baahu while they complete their time at the new location.  Deepika expressed her vision for these photos and what they will mean for her and her husband Prashanth.  My job that day was to create a memorable photo session that will carry them both through this hard separation from their family member Baahu.  Although my dog Tobey is not very cooperative when it comes to taking photos, Baahu was a complete trooper!  He was very cooperative, considering how hot and humid it was that day in the Georgia sun.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from their photo session!

Purnank and Arpita's Baby Shower!

Welcome to the Ghandi baby shower!  I had such a blast photographing this event.  Purnank and Arpita are an incredibly nice couple who really made me feel part of the family.  The event was at the lovely Julian Smith Casino in Augusta, GA.  The beautiful light that came in from both sides of the floor from the open windows is a photographers delight.  Without further ado, here are some of the photos of that day.

Kelley Family Portrait Session

Heather contacted me just days into the new year asking if I was available to capture her maternity/family portraits. She was 34 weeks into her pregnancy and really wanted some memorable photos she can cherish with her family. I was honored to be asked and was excited to capture this special time in all of their lives.

We began our photoshoot at the nature filled Brick Pond Park, I really love having photoshoots there! It has such a rustic feel to it and I always come up with new ideas, it’s never a dull moment there. Heather bought along her husband and her two energetic and well behaved sons. We all had so much fun during the shoot and her sons agreed to take any type of portraits their mother requested as long as they could take some fun silly shots. As you will see below they are quite funny! I especially like the “Bieber” impression photo hahaha.

In closing, I want to wish the Kelley family many blessings during this time and hope to capture their new addition to the family when the time comes.

Here are some of the photos we captured that day!

Andre & Lashonda's Wedding Story

When I first met Lashonda back in Mid-April she informed me that her wedding would be just weeks after our initial meeting.  She would be taking on the daunting task of planning her big day in just a short period of time.  Originally, she was to have her wedding in North Augusta, SC in a rented mansion with an amazing hilltop view of the local town.  Unfortunately, the weeks leading up to her big day it rained a great deal.  Because her wedding would be outdoor/indoor utilizing all the facets of the mansion; Lashonda decided to change the venue a week before her wedding due to the poor condition of the grounds.  What Lashonda was able to pull off next is a testament to her character......a "can-do" character that will undoubtedly serve her and her husband Andre for a lifetime.  Lashonda was able to change her wedding ceremony and reception location to the historic Augusta Museum Downtown.

Lashonda and Andre's wedding day was full of friends and family who cared deeply about them.  For a wedding that was planned in such a short period of time I can say without a doubt it was a great success and showcase of the love these two souls have for each other.  I will end this with a scripture that was on a medallion tied to Lashonda's bouquet.  Psalms 93:4 "More than the sounds of many waters, Than the mighty breakers of the sea, The LORD on high is mighty."

Here are just a few photos of Andre & Lashonda's wedding day

Kevin & Natalie's Engagement!

While in NJ visiting family I had the opportunity to perform an engagement session for my lovely cousin Natalie and her hulk of a fiancé Kevin.  Natalie and Kevin are getting married in July 2017 and have chosen me to photograph their special day!  I couldn't be more excited about this and can't wait to celebrate with these two lovebirds.  The photos were taken in Flemington, NJ and the Jersey shore.  Here are the photos.....

James & Katrina's Engagement Session

A few weeks ago I had the honor of capturing the engagement session for James & Katrina featuring their daughter Serenity.  They both decided on having the session at Pendleton King Park in Augusta, GA.  I had shot an engagement session there before, but I had never notice the lovely garden there that is just perfect for taking photos!  I really love working with couples prior to their big wedding day.  It gives me an opportunity to not only get to know them better but work with them and gain their trust and confidence.

As we began conversing and walking to our first shot location I asked Katrina where her engagement ring was?  The next few moments were of utter shock as Katrina had realized she had forgotten to put on her engagement ring and had accidentally left it home.  I really care about giving the best images and care to my clients.  So I told her I would wait for her to go back home and get her engagement ring.  In the meantime, I would warm up my photo taking skills on her youngest sister (who was there to chaperon) and daughter.  When Katrina came back we were ready to go.  The rest of the engagement shoot was fun and relaxing.  James & Katrina were really fun to be around and had no objections trying out any photo ideas I might have had whether they worked out or not.

I can’t wait for September when I capture their wedding at The Red Oak Manor in Harlem, GA.  In the meantime, check out a few images from their engagement session!
